The Bear and the Dragon

February 18, 2005, ~1 minute

I just finished reading Tom Clancy's The Bear and the Dragon. It's definitely vintage Clancy for what it's worth (I guess that depends on if you like his books 😉).

Some really odd (linguistic) "blunders" that didn't feel like Clancy at all, but on the whole, a nice reading experience.

Jack Ryan takes on the duties of the American Presidency, manages to make good on old promises to Russian friends while keeping the "Chinese Dragon" at bay; you won't find a shorter summary than that of this book!

I liked "Red Rabbit" better; but neither hold a candle to some of Clancy's earlier works like The Hunt for Red October and The Cardinal of the Kremlin. I really did like Red Storm Rising too.
